Sanitaetar...Medic....

Rotes Kreuz ist da! (Red cross is here!)

Nach 30 Jahren Modelbau ist es endlich möglich, Sanitaeter aufzubauen und zu bemalen. (wenigtens in 1/72 Massstab!)

Restart Battlelore!

Did you ever played “Battlelore”?

İf not than this article will give a first impression.
The first scenario is named after Agincourt, the famous battle during the 100 years’ war.
Of course, it’s a small version for the battlelore board with limited dimensions. (9 x 13 hexes)
Along both sides of the board there are forest, as the only terrain in this scenario, which has nearly no effect to the game development.
The first line of the English forces are built massively (90 %) by archer units, which were actually using long-bows. But in this first scenario the designers used the normal bow for making the learning curve easier for the beginners.
But, on the other hand this decision reduced the hit rate of the archers, which could be decisive on a board with such small dimensions. The heavy French cavalry units could reach only in two turns the English archer, if the French player could get the relevant cards.
I think, the scenario builders realised this fact and rebalanced the game by limiting the number of the French heavy cavalry force with two units.
The number of units on both sides are:
English forces:
5 archers
3 middle infantry
1 heavy infantry
Total of 9 units

French forces:
1 archer
6 middle infantry
1 middle cavalry
2 heavy cavalry
Total of 10 units
İt’s clear that in case of “close combat” the English forces are “short-handed”. Their only hope/strategy is to eliminate so many units or at least figures before the French could reach their lines.
The forests on both flanks are ideal cover positions for the archer units on both ends of the line. İf they could take place in the forest, they attack with two dices as usual but would be protected against the furious 4 dices attack of the enemy red cavalry.
Next movement should contain both blue infantry units and move them in the front line of the rest archer units, so that they would be able to counter-attack the potential attacks of the red cavalry with 3 dices.
The French should pray for getting the “relevant” cards, so that he could move as many as possible units for close combat, at least the both heavy cavalry units on both flanks.
His next strategy could be to eliminate as many as possible English archer units, before his cavalry units were destroyed or the French blue infantry units arrive to help them.
The only French archer unit in the middle of the board, which represents the “Genoese crossbowmen” in the historical battle, is practically useless, like their original counterparts!
The position of the French blue cavalry unit in the middle of the board causes to be overlooked for a prior attack, because its position on the first line of the French side, behind the infantry units is another handicapped starter location.
Next step will be house rules!

T-34/76 fast kit from Armourfast!

The first kit built on August is another fast-kit from Armourfast.

The T-34/76 which was produced in 2004, while the brand was a part of HAET İndustries.

I think that it isn't necessary to describe the T-34 for even the beginners in our hobby.

The model itself is a very basic kit, ideal for the wargamers and beginners.

There are ONLY 8 pieces to each kit; 2 track units, hull, hull underside, 76 mm. gun, turret mount, hull MG.

But it's easy to add little extras from your spare box, which could make the model very realistic.

As usual by Haet 2 kits in a box and I may add, that the quality lack is noticeable in this "old - one of the firsts" model in the fast-kit niche of our hobby.

Buy it and give as a gift to your 5-6 year old nephew..

İt could be a start...

Fast-kit from Armourfast Panzer III G Part 2!

This kit is a second German release from Hat in 2005.

(The first one was "Jagdpanther". I never understood why they have choosen this one as a start model of the german tank producting)

Designed as wargame kit it is cheap, easy to build and fairly accurate.

İf you want to build a "Panzer Korp"-unit it could be done quickly and easily without too much expense.

Like each "fast-kit" in compare to other "usual"-kit it lacks in some details but it is dimensionally and proportionally correct.

I didn't expect from such a fast-kit too much details but an MG, which could be vital in a war!

Just the construction photo could be more informative.

I missed the side doors and exhaust-parts on the picture, which shouldn't be a BİG problem for an experienced model-maker, but this kits are produced for beginners ALSO or could be a fantastic eye-catcher for potential customers.

Don't miss it by future designs....

Armourfast Panzer III Ausf. G

After a very long break a fast-kit from Armourfast!

At the beginning of WW2 the German army expected that the Panzerkampfwagen (Panzer) III as a medium tank, developed in the 1930s and armed with its 37mm gun, would serve as the major armoured vehicle against enemy armour in combat.

After the first failings against Char B1 in France and Mathilda North Africa which were repeated against the Russian T-34 and KV-1the German designers were convinced  to uparmour and uparm the Panzer III.

Two of the series of modified Panzer IIIs were the Ausf.G and the Ausf.H.

The Ausf.G, built in the period 1940-41, was the first variant with the 5cm KwK 38 L/42 gun as its standard weapon.

600 were built and they served on both the Eastern Front and in the deserts of North Africa.

an electronic version of "C&C:Ancients" - boardgame from GMT Games

This time I would like to share with you an announcement from a boardgame publisher.

GMT Games is IMHO one of the bests, if not the best! (I know, its subjective!)

"Update on Electronic Games I promised many of you online that I'd give you an update on where we stand with our electronic games this time. So I polled all the development teams, only to find that the Christmas season and "real job" work requirements had caused a slowdown over the past couple months with many of our electronic game projects. Look for an announcement over the next couple of weeks about our agreement for the electronic rights to our two Commands & Colors series of games! Contracts have been signed and now we're just working on coordinating on the press releases."
İf you know more about the game:

And additionally a call from GMT games:

Please note that we are also VERY MUCH still looking for development partners for a bunch of our games. If it's not on the list I gave above (except for Labyrinth, which is committed as part of a deal with the Twilight Struggle team, or For the People, which is committed as a 2nd game to the Empire of the Sun team assuming all goes well with EotS), we'd love to talk with any interested developers about either an iOS, Android, or PC version. We'd prefer tablet games at present, but there are some for which the larger screen of the PC is more appropriate, so we're open to those as well. The below is by no means an exclusive list, as we're open to talking about any of our games, but I for one would love to see and play electronic versions of: American Revolution Series, Fields of Fire, Blackbeard, Conquest of Paradise, Great Battles of the American Civil War Series, Great Battles of History Series, Leaping Lemmings, Musket & Pike Series, Hellenes, Pax Romana, Santa Fe Rails, Successors, The Conquerors: Alexander, The Kaiser's Pirates, The Napoleonic Wars (and Wellington and Kutuzov)

That's all for this time on the electronic front.

If you are a programmer/developer or company rep and would like to talk with us about creating an electronic version of one of our games, or if you are interested in testing (send contact info and UDD of your iPad please) please contact me (Gene) at gmtgames@aol.com
